Venue: Jacksons on George, including our One Chef Hat restaurant, Bistro George

Overview: Jacksons on George is looking for a passionate and experienced Head Sommelier to elevate our wine program. You will lead wine curation across Bistro George, Rooftop, Public Bar and events, focusing on exceptional Australian and international selections.

Key Responsibilities

Curate and Manage Wine Lists:

– Develop diverse, high-quality wine selections for Bistro George, Rooftop and Public Bar. Build relationships with suppliers to source unique wines and manage inventory.

Food and Wine Pairing:

– Collaborate with chefs to create outstanding pairings. Educate staff and guests on pairing principles.

Wine Service:

– Guide customers in wine selection and tasting. Ensure exceptional service and proper wine presentation.

Staff Training:

– Train and conduct regular wine education sessions for our team to enhance their knowledge and service culture.

Host Wine Events:





– Lead wine tastings and events to showcase our offerings. Stay updated on industry trends and share insights.

Cellar Management:

– Oversee the organisation and maintenance of the wine cellar.

Promote Collaborations and Sustainability:

– Highlight female winemakers, engage with the community and advocate for sustainable practices.

Qualifications:

– Certified Sommelier, WSET, or similar.

– 5+ years as a sommelier or wine steward.

– Strong knowledge of wine and food, commercial acumen and excellent communication skills.

– Availability for nights and weekends.
