The Company:
Join this multi hundred-million-dollar FMCG business with a well-established customer base and strong brand. This fast-moving business is supporting several hundred customers and is renowned for delivering quality products and is supported with strong customer relationships.
You will be reporting directly to the Financial Controller in a small finance team that will allow for some breadth and variety in the role.
Although this role requires a 7.6 hour workday, it will involve starting at 6AM, while allowing for an early finish. Once you are up to speed, you will be able to work from home for 3 days per week. On the days you need to head into the office, you can start working from home at 6AM and can head into the office at 8or 9AM. This is to ensure all orders for the day are cleared before being released to customers.
The Role:
As the Accounts Receivable & Bookkeeping Officer, you will take ownership of customer accounts, collections and credit control, while supporting the wider Finance Team. You will help maintain accurate financial records, improve payment outcomes and identify credit risks early.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-to-end accounts receivable, including receipt allocation, customer reconciliations and statements.
- Monitoring debtor ageing, following up overdue balances and resolving payment discrepancies through professional customer communication.
- Reviewing customer credit applications,
monitoring credit risk and assisting with credit limits, trading terms and account holds.
- Providing debtor ageing, collections and cash-flow information to Finance Management.
- Completing bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations, and assisting with journals, accruals, prepayments and month-end processes.
- Supporting accounts payable, BAS/GST reconciliations, management reporting and external accountant or auditor requests as required.
Your Profile:
- Extensive experience in accounts receivable, credit control, bookkeeping or accounting, ideally more than seven years.
- Strong practical skills in debtor management, collections, bookkeeping and reconciliations.
- An understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes, with month-end experience highly regarded.
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills, with Xero and CreditWatch or similar credit monitoring experience preferred.
- Confident, respectful communication and the ability to have firm, constructive conversations about overdue payments.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- A proactive approach to resolving issues and maintaining confidentiality.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline is preferred.
