Creative Producer, Science Engagement

About the Role

You'll lead the development and delivery of the Sydney Science Trail (SST), the Australian Museum's flagship annual science program, presented in partnership with the Botanic Gardens of Sydney. This large-scale schools and community program showcases the scientific work of both organisations.

Working with scientists, educators, science communicators and partners, you'll program best-practice STEM activities that inspire participation and build science literacy. You'll oversee SST from concept to delivery and help secure ongoing funding, including through grant submissions. Outside the SST season, you'll develop science programs that connect audiences with the Museum's collections, First Nations cultures, natural history and climate solutions.

Employment Status:

- Clerk Grade 5/6
- Fixed Term up to 12 months
- Full-time

You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $116,832 - $128,912 pa, including an annual salary of $102,936- $113,579, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you

You're a self-motivated and organised producer with experience delivering cultural and STEM programs for students, families and science lovers. You know how to turn complex science into accessible, memorable experiences that connect a broad range of audiences with the Australian Museum.

With proven experience coordinating large, multi-stakeholder events from planning to delivery, you juggle competing deadlines with a calm, flexible, solutions-focused approach. You build robust relationships with researchers, educators, partners, sponsors and internal teams.

You'll bring a genuine interest in natural history, First Nations cultures and the environment, and tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in event management, education, science communication or the arts. Evening, weekend, public holiday and occasional overnight work is an inherent part of the role,



especially during SST. A valid NSW Working with Children Check is essential.

To be eligible for this role at the Australian Museum, you must hold full working rights in Australia and meet all essential requirements listed in the position description.

Knowledge and Experience

- Comprehensive knowledge of the science, science communication, education and cultural sectors
- Effective relationship management with community, stakeholders and industry
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end event coordination and project management with ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interest, knowledge and understanding in natural history, First Nations cultures, and the environment.
- Familiarity with grant writing, research and preparation of funding applications and reporting
- Experience in tracking of expenditure, reconciliation and identifying budget variances

Essential Requirements

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Event Management, Education, Science Communication, or Arts
- Availability to work on weekends, public holidays and evenings when required.
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check
