What’s On OfferThe City of Kwinana is looking for an experienced and strategic Diversity and Inclusion Specialist to lead our approach to diversity, inclusion, healthy ageing, volunteering and social wellbeing.
This is an influential role within our Community Development team, shaping policy, partnerships and service responses that strengthen participation, accessibility, belonging and community connection across Kwinana.
Working across the organisation and with community, government and sector partners, you will provide strategic advice, lead key frameworks and initiatives, and help the City respond effectively to changing community needs, emerging issues and opportunities.
What You’ll Be DoingIn this influential role you’ll:
- Lead and oversee a team of two responsible for delivering the City’s diversity, inclusion, healthy ageing, volunteering and social wellbeing portfolios.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight of the team’s key frameworks and initiatives, including the Multicultural Action Plan, Social Wellbeing Framework, Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and Age Friendly Plan.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders, Elected Members and stakeholders on emerging community issues, priorities and risks.
- Build strategic partnerships across government, community organisations, business and the broader sector, and identify funding and investment opportunities.
- Represent and advocate for Kwinana through relevant networks and forums, while providing leadership and direction to a small team.
What You'll NeedTo make an impact in this role the successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
1.
Demonstrated experience leading strategic community development, diversity, inclusion, volunteering or social wellbeing initiatives within complex environments.
2. Demonstrated success developing, implementing and evaluating strategies, policies, frameworks and initiatives that influence organisational planning, programs and service delivery.
3. Highly developed strategic thinking, judgement and political awareness, with the ability to identify risk, navigate complexity and provide trusted advice to senior decision-makers.
4. Highly developed relationship management, negotiation and advocacy skills, with the ability to build strategic partnerships across community, government, business and sector stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated capability to secure funding, leverage partnerships and lead and develop staff to deliver collaborative outcomes.
6. Strong knowledge of contemporary issues affecting multicultural and Aboriginal communities, seniors, people with disability and volunteers.
7. Tertiary qualifications in community development, community services, social policy, social sciences or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience. A current driver’s licence, National Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate are also required.
