Product & Operations Lead
CheerCon | Beresfield, NSW | Immediate Start | 30 hours p/week
Love organisation, technology, products and making sure everything is exactly where it needs to be? Are you also confident leading people and taking ownership of your space?
CheerCon is looking for a confident, highly organised and tech-savvy Product & Operations Lead to join our team for an immediate start.
You'll take ownership of our product ordering, stock systems and warehouse operations, while confidently leading and managing our warehouse team.
This isn't your typical warehouse role.
While you'll be responsible for the overall organisation and operation of our warehouse, the majority of your role is about leading people, managing products and stock, working across our systems, ordering, planning and keeping everything running smoothly.
Our products include cheerleading apparel, uniforms, event merchandise, bows, pom poms, accessories and performance wear — so if spreadsheets, systems, online ordering and sequins sound more appealing than forklifts and pallets, this might be your kind of role.
What will you actually be doing?
You'll become our go-to person for everything relating to products, stock, ordering and warehouse operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing our warehouse staff
- Setting daily and weekly priorities and allocating tasks
- Monitoring workflow, productivity and performance
- Providing clear direction, feedback and support to your team
- Holding team members accountable for deadlines and responsibilities
- Taking ownership of the overall organisation and presentation of the warehouse
- Ensuring stock is stored logically, safely and efficiently
- Continually improving warehouse layout, storage and stock organisation
- Ensuring the warehouse is kept clean, tidy and organised
- Coordinating incoming and outgoing stock
- Moving and reorganising stock when required, including using a forklift where appropriate
- Ordering merchandise, apparel, uniforms, pom poms, accessories and other products
- Monitoring stock levels and identifying what needs to be reordered
- Placing and tracking supplier orders
- Following up suppliers and outstanding orders and deliveries
- Maintaining accurate product, inventory and ordering information
- Working confidently across multiple computer programs, platforms and online systems
- Using spreadsheets to track stock, orders, costs and operational information
- Working closely with our apparel, events and operations teams
- Planning stock and product requirements ahead of our major events
- Identifying problems before they become bigger problems
- Improving systems and processes to make the department more efficient
- Taking ownership of issues and following them through to resolution
Who are we looking for?
You don't need to come from a traditional warehouse background.
We're much more interested in finding someone who is smart, capable, organised, confident with technology and comfortable taking the lead.
You might currently work in retail operations, e-commerce, fashion or apparel, merchandise, product coordination, stock control, purchasing, administration, team leadership or general operations.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is a confident and capable people leader
- Can give clear direction and isn't afraid to take charge
- Is comfortable having respectful but direct conversations when expectations aren't being met
- Can motivate a team while maintaining standards and accountability
- Has a natural eye for organisation and can create order from chaos
- Takes pride in keeping a workspace clean, organised and functioning efficiently
- Is genuinely confident with computers and technology
- Picks up new programs and platforms quickly
- Is comfortable working across multiple systems
- Has robust spreadsheet skills
- Has exceptional attention to detail
- Can manage multiple priorities without needing constant direction
- Is confident communicating with suppliers and following people up
- Is a natural problem solver
- Is comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for them
- Is reliable, accountable and follows things through
- Is willing to roll up their sleeves and help reorganise or move stock when needed
Experience with Shopify, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, inventory/stock management software or similar platforms would be highly regarded.
Previous experience supervising or leading a small team would also be highly regarded.
Forklift licence
A current forklift licence would be highly regarded but is not essential.
There will be times when stock needs to be moved or reorganised within the warehouse using a forklift. For the right person, CheerCon is happy to arrange and fund forklift training/licensing if you don't already hold one.
You'll own the warehouse — but you won't spend all day working on the warehouse floor
We have team members who complete the day-to-day warehouse work. You'll be their lead and you'll take ownership of the space they work in.
That means making sure the warehouse is clean, organised and functional; stock is stored correctly; your team knows what they're doing; systems are accurate; and deadlines are being met.
You'll make sure:
What needs ordering → gets ordered.
What needs following up → gets followed up.
What arrives → gets recorded and put away correctly.
What needs doing → gets assigned to the right person.
What needs reorganising → gets sorted.
What has a deadline → gets completed on time.
And when something isn't getting done → you step in and address it.
We need someone who doesn't walk past a messy stock area and assume it's someone else's problem. You'll see it, make a plan and get the team organised to fix it.
The CheerCon environment
CheerCon operates within the fast-paced cheerleading and dance industry, delivering major events alongside our apparel, merchandise and club product operations.
Our workplace is busy, colourful and constantly moving. One day you could be coordinating an incoming apparel order, the next organising thousands of items for an upcoming event, following up a supplier, updating Shopify, reorganising a section of the warehouse and then setting your team's priorities for the week.
There is plenty of variety and plenty to take ownership of.
This role will suit someone who...
Gets genuine satisfaction from being organised.
Loves a good spreadsheet.
Can learn a new computer system without panicking.
Likes products, apparel and merchandise.
Can walk into a messy storeroom and immediately start thinking about how to organise it better.
Isn't afraid to pick up the phone and chase something.
Can confidently walk into a team and take the lead.
Can give direction without feeling uncomfortable.
Is comfortable holding people accountable.
Is happy to jump in and move some stock when needed.
Would rather solve a problem than wait for someone else to solve it.
And wants a role they can really make their own.
Ready to start?
We're looking to fill this position immediately, so applicants who are available to commence at short notice are encouraged to apply.
If you're looking for a position where you can take ownership of a department, lead a team, improve systems and become an important part of a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply through SEEK with your resume and a short cover letter telling us why this sounds like your kind of role and your earliest available start date.
