About this Opportunity

Lead from the pool deck in this hands-on role, combining frontline lifeguarding with the day-to-day leadership, development and support of the UQ Sport lifeguard team.

Working closely with the Assistant Manager, you will help keep the Aquatics Centre safe, compliant and running smoothly while building a positive team culture and delivering an exceptional experience for every patron.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Lead, coach and develop the lifeguard team, including supporting rostering, recruitment, training and ongoing performance.

- Help implement and continuously improve the Aquatic Centre Supervision Plan, ensuring high standards of safety and service.

- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, pool testing, venue checks and incident management.

- Maintain compliance across operational procedures, staff qualifications, training requirements and approved work practices.

- Provide active pool supervision as required and champion exceptional customer service, including responding to escalated concerns.

About You

You are a confident and dependable aquatics professional who enjoys leading from the front. You bring sound judgement, a strong safety focus and the ability to motivate others while remaining actively involved in daily operations.

To help you succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:

- A current Pool Lifeguard qualification,



First Aid and CPR certificates, and Blue Card.

- Experience working in an aquatics environment, with exposure to mentoring, coaching or leading lifeguards.

- A strong commitment to safety, compliance and customer service excellence.

- The initiative and organisational skills to work autonomously, prioritise operational needs and solve problems effectively.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and support team development.

- Experience in pool plant operations will be highly regarded.
