The Role
Many mechanical engineers reach Senior level and find that the natural next step is moving further into project management and away from the technical work they enjoy.

This role offers a different path.

Promech is looking for an experienced Senior, Lead or Principal Mechanical Piping Engineer who wants to stay close to the detailed engineering, take on greater technical responsibility and ultimately progress towards Principal without having to leave the technical side behind.

You will work hands on across mechanical and piping design, solving complex engineering problems,



reviewing and developing designs, and providing technical guidance to the wider team. As you progress, you will take on greater technical leadership, client responsibility and mentoring while remaining deeply involved in the engineering itself.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and deliver mechanical and piping engineering design across complex projects
- Take ownership of mechanical engineering packages from concept through to detailed design and fabrication
- Deliver and review designs for piping systems, tanks, pressure vessels and mechanical equipment
- Develop and review engineering calculations, design reports and technical documentation
- Develop technical specifications for mechanical and process equipment, valves and associated systems
- Undertake equipment selection and package engineering for mechanical plant
- Review and technically evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals
- Provide technical input throughout project delivery and work closely with clients and project teams
- Support and mentor junior and intermediate engineers
- Develop strong relationships with clients, suppliers and other project stakeholders

About You




You will be an experienced mechanical engineer with strong mechanical and piping design capability who is ready to take the next step in their technical career.

- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
- RPEQ registration is essential
- 10+ years' relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Strong mechanical and piping design experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, alternative fuels, minerals processing or similar process industries
- Experience delivering mechanical design from concept through to fabrication and construction
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AS 1210, ASME VIII, AS 4041 and ASME B31.3
- Strong grounding in first principles mechanical design
- Experience with mechanical equipment selection and specification
- Package engineering experience for mechanical plant
- Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to less experienced engineers
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A genuine interest in developing towards a Principal level technical leadership position
