The opportunity
Community Living Project is looking for an organised, proactive and solutions-focused Rostering Officer to join our team in a part-time 0.8 FTE hybrid role.
At CLP, we support people to choose and direct their own workers. We recruit with each person we support and facilitate flexible, reliable and responsive support teams, strengthened by key-worker and guided by a Community Living facilitator.
The rostering officer is a newly created operational position responsible for ensuring the people we support have the right worker, in the right place, at the right time.
You’ll coordinate support worker rosters across our services, balancing the needs and preferences of the people we support, worker availability and skills, continuity of support, and SCHADS Award/EBA requirements.
If you enjoy solving complex rostering problems, can stay calm when plans change at short notice, and understand that good rostering directly impacts the quality of support people receive, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role
Working closely with Community Living facilitators, support workers and management, you will take ownership of day-to-day rostering and shift coverage.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate support worker rosters.
- Filling planned and unplanned vacancies, including short-notice absences.
- Proactively identifying upcoming roster gaps rather than waiting for shifts to become urgent.
- Matching workers according to our peoples preferences and support requirements, worker skills, competencies, availability and person-specific training.
- Maintaining continuity of support wherever possible.
- Ensuring rosters comply with relevant SCHADS Award/EBA requirements, including minimum engagements, breaks between shifts, overtime, broken shifts, sleepovers and roster change requirements.
- Communicating roster changes clearly and promptly with workers and relevant team members.
- Escalating unresolved vacancies, worker-matching concerns, excessive overtime, compliance concerns and service risks.
- Monitoring recurring workforce gaps and rostering pressures to assist with workforce planning.
About you
You will be someone who can see the bigger picture while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience coordinating rosters within disability, community services, aged care, health or another workforce-based environment.
- Strong rostering and workforce coordination skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence working in a quick-moving environment where circumstances can change quickly.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to roster accuracy.
- Experience using electronic rostering systems.
- An understanding of worker matching and the importance of continuity of support.
Highly regarded:
- Previous NDIS/disability rostering experience.
- Working knowledge of the SCHADS Award/EBA.
- Experience rostering SIL, individualised living, in-home support or community participation services.
What this role is — and isn’t
This is a dedicated rostering role with a clear operational focus.
Your priority is Support Worker rostering, workforce matching, shift coverage, roster accuracy and identifying workforce gaps.
The position does not carry responsibility for payroll, general administration, NDIS claiming or billing, HR administration, recruitment administration or service coordination/case management.
What success looks like
Success means the people we support receive their scheduled supports from appropriately matched workers; rosters are accurate, stable and compliant; foreseeable vacancies are addressed early; unexpected absences are managed promptly; and emerging workforce risks are escalated before they impact service delivery.
