The Baker is responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods for customers in the hospitality and tourism industry. They must follow recipes, mix and prepare ingredients, and ensure that all baked goods are of high quality and served fresh and timely.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare a variety of baked goods
- Mix, measure, and prepare ingredients according to recipes
- Use various baking techniques to create a wide range of bakery products
- Ensure that all baked goods are prepared on time and to the required quality standards
- Operate ovens, mixers, and other bakery equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Monitor and adjust oven temperatures, baking times, and other factors as required
- Decorate baked goods using various techniques
- Maintain an inventory of ingredients and ensure that all supplies are stocked
- Ensure that all baked goods are stored appropriately and maintain food hygiene standards
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and regulations as required
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Baker in the hospitality and tourism industry
- Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
- Creativity and imagination in creating recent recipes and designs
- Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A high level of physical fitness and stamina
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety regulations
- A relevant qualification in bakery or culinary arts or equivalent experience is desirable
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
