Serve with purpose. Grow through community.
Our community services and enforcement teams make a visible difference every day. You work with purpose and empathy, helping people feel safe, supported and connected. As a Child Care Cook, you prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks that support the health, wellbeing and development of children attending our early learning centres.
You prepare meals and snacks each day, ensuring they are ready on time and meet the nutritional, cultural and dietary needs of children aged 0 to 5. You plan menus with the Centre Director, cater for individual dietary requirements, and order food, kitchen and cleaning supplies to keep the service running smoothly.
You maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen, store food correctly, clean equipment and utensils, and ensure food preparation areas meet high food safety standards. You also attend staff meetings and training activities and contribute to the day to day operation of the centre.
Your work gives families confidence that their children's dietary needs are understood and supported. In return, you join a supportive workplace that values teamwork, safety and customer service, with opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to a service that families rely on every day.
If you enjoy cooking,
take pride in maintaining a secure kitchen and want your work to make a difference to young children, this role could be a great fit for you.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make outstanding teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a secure, permanent, part-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,248.18 per week, pro-rata
- a 25-hour working week (5 hours a day)
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
Our commitment to safety
Blacktown City Council is committed to safety. We have introduced alcohol and other drug testing at the pre-employment phase, and via a series of random and cause testing.
We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
