Secure and steward commercial partnerships that will generate revenue, in-kind value and strategic support for the International Eucharistic Congress 2028.

- Build a solid sponsorship pipeline and convert opportunities into valuable, mission-aligned partnerships.

- Develop persuasive proposals and negotiate agreements with senior commercial stakeholders.

- Lead partner delivery and stewardship from first approach through to Congress completion.

About the International Eucharistic Congress (Eucharist28)

Eucharist28 is a global event held by the Catholic Church that focuses on the celebration of the Eucharist. Sydney has been named as the host of the next Congress which will be held in 2028 and the event is expected to draw tens of thousands of people from all over the world alongside hundreds of thousands of Australians.

The 2028 Congress marks the centenary of Australia’s first International Eucharistic Congress, held in Sydney in 1928. Last hosted in Australia in 1973, and celebrated every four years in a different location around the world, the Congress will once again place Sydney at the global focal point of the Catholic Church, with the ambition of renewing Christian life and to encourage participation in the life and mission of the Church.

The Archdiocese of Sydney, the coordinator of the Congress, is seeking an exceptional marketing professional with a deep commitment to the Church’s mission to take up the challenge of delivering a successful event.

About the Role

Eucharist28 requires a diverse network of organisations willing to contribute expertise, resources and financial support to a major international Catholic gathering. The Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager will create that network and ensure each relationship delivers value for both the Congress and its partners.

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships and Marketing, you will set the sponsorship and partnerships strategy, build a qualified prospect pipeline and secure cash and value-in-kind arrangements that are commercially sound and aligned with the mission and values of Eucharist28.

You will manage the complete partnership process: research, outreach, proposal design, negotiation, approvals, contracting, activation, reporting and stewardship. Close collaboration with marketing, communications, finance, legal, programming and events will be essential to delivering agreed benefits and managing risk. You will also lead and support the Sponsorship Fulfilment Coordinator to provide a responsive and professional partner experience.

This is a full-time fixed-term position until 27 October 2028.

About You

You are a confident commercial relationship builder who knows how to identify opportunity, develop a persuasive proposition and move complex discussions towards agreement. You bring credibility with senior stakeholders, disciplined pipeline management and the judgement to balance revenue objectives with reputation, governance and organisational purpose.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience in sponsorship, partnerships, business development, account management or commercial relationship management.

- Proven success developing and securing sponsorships, commercial partnerships or strategic partnerships that deliver revenue and organisational value.

- Strong experience developing sponsorship proposals, partnership packages and compelling value propositions.

- Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior executives and external partners.

- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pipeline management, forecasting, budgeting and revenue reporting.

- Experience managing complex partnership arrangements from acquisition through to delivery, stewardship and renewal.

- Demonstrated ability to work within governance frameworks while managing reputational, commercial and stakeholder considerations.

- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, support and develop team members.

- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Communications, Commerce, Event Management or a related discipline.

- Understanding of the Catholic Church, its structures and mission, or a genuine commitment to developing this understanding and supporting the evangelising mission of Eucharist28.

Your performance will be measured through the quality and value of partnerships secured, the reliability of partner delivery and the strength of relationships maintained. You will combine commercial ambition with careful stewardship of the Church’s reputation and the Eucharist28 mission.
