Youth Workers will be required to support young people through assessment, mentoring, program delivery, and coordination with families and community services.
The role involves developing support strategies, implementing interventions, and advocating for young people's wellbeing and participation.Key responsibilitiesAssessing and evaluating the needs, circumstances and risks affecting young people, and developing appropriate support strategies and plansProviding youth support, mentoring and guidance, including participation in counselling and allied health sessions (as required) to identify issues and implement agreed interventionsPlanning, coordinating and delivering youth programs, activities and empowerment initiatives in consultation with young people, families, and community stakeholdersLiaising with parents/guardians, community leaders and relevant services to support young people's wellbeing, engagement and participationReferring and linking young people to community resources, support services, and government programs that may assist themAdvocating on behalf of young people with families, community organisations and relevant authorities when appropriateMaintaining accurate case notes and administrative records, including documenting activities,
progress and outcomes in line with organisational requirementsSupporting the induction and training of current staff and volunteers on protected and effective engagement with young peopleContributing to organisational procedures and policies relating to youth support, safeguarding and service deliveryAssisting young people to access essential supports (where applicable), including emergency relief and basic needs such as food, clothing and accommodation pathwaysAbout youA minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a recognised tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or NursingExperience supporting high risk youth in a residential care settingFirst Aid Certificate with current CPRWorking with Children Check (paid employee status)National police check (current)Reliable car with registration certificateReliable smart phone with dataAbility to work a combination of morning, afternoon and overnight shifts (active and/or sleepover shifts)Previous experience working with children and young people with complex needsAbout usBridges Care Services Pty.
