Your new role
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data solutions across both existing and cloud-based platforms. You will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data models, and integration frameworks while supporting large-scale data migration and modernisation initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise data warehouse and cloud-based data solutions.
- Building and maintaining data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, monitoring, and reconciliation processes.
- Supporting data migration projects, including source-to-target mapping, testing, validation, cutover activities, and post-implementation support.
- Developing and optimising relational and dimensional data models, stored procedures, views, and curated datasets.
- Applying DataOps practices including source control, code reviews, testing, deployment governance, and release management.
- Ensuring strong data governance through metadata management, data lineage, quality controls, and audit readiness.
- Providing production support, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ongoing platform enhancements.
- Working closely with business, technology, architecture, governance, and reporting teams to deliver trusted data outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, or Analytics environments.
- Strong SQL development skills, including stored procedures, functions, views, optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise-scale data integration solutions.
- Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data engineering practices.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data quality frameworks, reconciliation processes, and governance principles.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments and collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable experience includes:
- Enterprise data warehouse migration projects.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Azure Data Platform technologies, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or similar cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Python, PySpark, CI/CD, DataOps, metadata management, and data lineage solutions.
