Are you someone who takes pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe and well-presented?

Join Council's Civil Operations team and play an important role in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the city's Central Business District (CBD).

This hands-on position is responsible for a variety of cleaning, maintenance and operational activities throughout the CBD, including operating specialised plant and equipment such as street sweepers and high-pressure cleaning systems. Every day offers variety, with opportunities to work both independently and as part of a supportive team delivering essential services to the community.

- Permanent, full-time position.
- This position participates in a roster that includes weekdays and alternate weekends, early morning starts from 4:00am, with occasional out-of-hours duties.
- Remuneration package of $2,416.26 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $2,899.51 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).
- Penalty rates applicable for hours worked on weekends.
- Generous leave entitlements, including access to five (5) weeks annual leave per annum and MyLeave.

*Please note: Rates of pay for all Council employees aged between 15-18 years of age are paid in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Junior and Trainee Employment. For further information, please see Council’s Junior Rates of Pay Fact Sheet.

Key Responsibilities

As the CBD Maintenance & Street Sweeper Operator, you will:

- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the CBD, public facilities and surrounding infrastructure.




- Operate and maintain Council plant and equipment, with a focus on street sweeping and high-pressure cleaning operations.
- Undertake footpath cleaning, rubbish collection, car park maintenance and other general maintenance activities.
- Respond to scheduled maintenance programs and service requests.
- Complete relevant workplace documentation and safety records.
- Work in accordance with Council's safety, environmental and operational standards.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Class MR (Medium Rigid) Driver Licence.
- A General Construction Induction Training (White Card).
- Experience operating plant and equipment relevant to the role, including mechanical street sweepers and high-pressure cleaning equipment (desirable).
- A commitment to workplace safety and high-quality service delivery.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Solid communication and customer service skills.
- Good organisational, time management and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work in accordance with rostered operational requirements, including weekends, early morning starts and work outside standard business hours.

In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation,



the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis B and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
