The position of Allied Health Practitioner Senior will deliver high level mental health services as a member of an acute response multi-disciplinary team to optimise psycho-social outcomes for children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders, and their families and carers. The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the delivery of mental health assessment, treatment, crisis management and referral for young people and their care networks with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met.

The Acute Response Team operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to provide timely and responsive support in the management of acute mental health presentations or concerns.



Clinicians in the team provide face to face mental health assessments in the Queensland Children's Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital Emergency Departments, after hours mental health consultation and assessment for young people with acute mental health concerns admitted to non-mental health units of the hospital, crisis phone service for young people and their families/carers in the CHQ catchment and follow up phone support for consumers of CHQ catchment, following presentation to an Emergency Department and who are currently consumers of CYMHS community.

About the Role

As a Senior Mental Health Clinician, you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

- It is a requirement of the position that staff work on a continuous shift basis across Prince Charles Hospital Emergency and QCH Emergency Department.
- This means you could be required to work a rostered shift, 24/7 Monday to Sunday inclusive working Queensland Children's Hospital Emergency Department.
- Provides mental health assessment, intervention and liaison for children and young people and their families who are admitted to TPCH within the paediatric inpatient unit.




- Deliver core clinical services in accordance with the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce. This includes diagnostic assessment and formulation and timely and appropriate treatment interventions, consistent with current best mental health practice
