Shape the Future of Geriatric Emergency Care – Clinical Nurse

Bring your gerontic nursing expertise to a role focused on early intervention, advocacy and coordinated care.

Your new role:

As a Clinical Nurse – Geriatric Emergency Department Initiative (GEDI) at Redland Hospital, you will provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership in the assessment, management and coordination of care for older people presenting to the Emergency Department. You will play a pivotal role in supporting timely, person-centred care and achieving the best possible outcomes for geriatric patients and their families. You will:

- Provide advanced geriatric nursing care, including early identification of eligible patients, mini-comprehensive geriatric assessment, frailty assessment, care planning and identification of goals of care.
- Coordinate care across the Emergency Department, working collaboratively with patients, families and carers, medical and inpatient teams, GPs and other healthcare providers to support timely admission, discharge and ongoing care.
- Provide clinical leadership, expert decision-making and problem-solving, supporting high-quality nursing practice and acting autonomously within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Contribute to education, research, quality improvement and service development, including clinical audits, data collection, benchmarking and evaluation of the GEDI model of care.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse who brings advanced clinical capability,



strong gerontic nursing knowledge and a passion for improving the care of older people.

- You will have advanced clinical assessment, care planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex geriatric presentations and provide evidence-based, person-centred care.
- You will demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in gerontic nursing practice, with experience in an acute environment highly regarded, together with the ability to advocate for older people, their families and carers.
- You will be a strong communicator and collaborator, able to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams and coordinate care with internal and external healthcare providers.
- You will demonstrate clinical leadership and a commitment to education, quality improvement and innovation, with the ability to support colleagues, contribute to practice change and promote best-practice care.

Bayside Health Service encompasses five public health campuses being Redland Hospital at Cleveland, Marie Rose Centre at Dunwich North Stradbroke Island, Wynnum Manly Community Health Centre “Gundu Pa”, Pandanus Ward at Casuarina Lodge, Wynnum Manly and the newly developed Redlands Satellite Hospital “Talwalpin Milbul” at Redland Bay.
