The Organisation

Transport Assets and Operations keeps Brisbane moving, providing safe, reliable and accessible transport for all.

​Transport Network Operations (TNO) section looks after the daily operation of Brisbane's transport networks including the maintenance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

The Role

The Infrastructure Specialist ITS is a technical role within the ITS team responsible for managing the Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure that supports ITS and Brisbane Metropolitan Traffic Management Centre (BMTMC) networks.

In this role you will operate within a real-time, safety-critical environment, to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of infrastructure systems. Through proactive administration and maintenance, you will deliver essential real time services to maintain Brisbane’s transport networks.

We are looking for a highly experienced and proactive Infrastructure Specialist who is customer-focused with a high level of technical ability in traffic management systems. In this role you will

- maintain and administer ITS and BMTMC infrastructure systems and applications
- deliver timely support to end-users including troubleshooting and coordination of workflows and vendors
- contribute to the delivery of secure, best practice infrastructure and application solutions
- perform upgrades to ITS and BMTMC infrastructure and applications
- monitor ITS and BMTMC infrastructure systems to support uninterrupted service delivery




- investigate infrastructure systems and applications issues
- work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires the incumbent to be available for after hours, weekend call out and stand by, to attend to system hardware or software issues.

To be successful you will have:

- extensive knowledge in server and hardware administration VMware, Linux, Windows, Windows Active Directory, backup and restoration and, NAS storage, within a distributed network environment.
- extensive knowledge administering DNS/DHCP systems, PKI, databases, system & configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef), message queueing systems (RabbitMQ), container management (Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes), software development and scripting, windows desktop support and SOE development
- ability to work independently and within a small team with minimal supervision
- experience providing high-quality, customer-focused technical support to end-users
- demonstrated experience in developing and implementing operating plans for the end-to-end management of production ITS environments, applications, and service
- highly developed communication, consultation, and negotiation skills.
