About the Chance
As Team Leader Assessments, you will lead the registration and assessment functions within Consumer and Business Services, ensuring requests for regulatory intervention are registered, assessed and directed to the most appropriate response.
You will oversee Registration Officers, Assessment Officers and Senior Assessment Officers, overseeing workflow, quality and capability while exercising delegated authority on complex, sensitive and higher-risk matters. Working closely with other functions, you will contribute to improving assessment pathways and supporting consistent regulatory outcomes.
At the heart of the role are three areas of leadership:
- Exercise regulatory judgement and delegated authority
Make and oversee complex and higher-risk regulatory decisions, balancing legislation, evidence, consumer harm, fairness and risk.
- Lead a specialist assessment function and build capability
Set direction for the assessment team, manage workflow and quality, and develop capability and consistency in regulatory decision-making.
- Use intelligence and insight to improve regulatory responses
Use assessment trends, emerging risks and performance information to strengthen pathways and regulatory responses.
We are seeking an experienced people leader with strong judgement and experience making complex decisions in a high-volume regulatory or compliance environment. To thrive in this role, you will need the ability to analyse legislation and policy, exercise delegated authority, manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Experience in regulation, compliance,
investigations, legal or complaint-handling environments will be highly regarded, as will qualifications in law, investigations, public administration, management or a related discipline.
This is an opportunity to lead a specialist regulatory function where your judgement shapes decisions, your leadership builds capability and your insight helps influence the response to emerging risk.
