The Business, Communications and Publishing Services Group manages the AIHW’s corporate functions that include, HR, facilities, finance, communications and engagement, web, publishing and data visualisation and flagship reporting. The group includes two units (People and Culture, and HR Services and Facilities) that work closely together to support our workforce and deliver on the institute’s HR priorities.
The Unit Head, People and Culture leads a multidisciplinary team of around 14 staff responsible for delivering strategic and operational people services across the organisation. The role provides leadership, expert advice and oversight across workforce planning, work health and safety (WHS), workforce reporting and analytics, workplace relations and HR policy, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, performance and conduct, and First Nations workforce initiatives, including management of the Indigenous Liaison Officer function.
Working closely with executives, managers and staff, the role drives a contemporary, inclusive and high-performing workplace by developing workforce strategies,
leading organisational change initiatives, strengthening workforce capability, and ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements. The position plays a key role in shaping organisational culture and workforce outcomes through evidence-based decision-making, collaboration and people-centred leadership.
Under limited direction you will:
- Lead and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary People and Culture team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and positive culture while delivering strategic workforce outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of the AIHW’s Workforce Development Plan.
- Lead the implementation of the new Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Manage the Enterprise Agreement bargaining process.
- Provide high-level strategic HR advice to the CEO, Senior Executive and Unit Heads.
- Work closely with the HR Services & Facilities Unit to ensure the delivery of streamlined and integrated people services across the agency.
