Serve with purpose. Grow through community.
Help people build the skills and confidence to be safe in the water. As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you teach swimmers of all ages through Council’s Aqua Learn to Swim Program across our aquatic centres. You plan and deliver lessons, assess progress, manage class attendance and provide feedback to parents and carers. You arrive ready to teach, keep classes running on time and create a safe, positive environment where people feel supported to learn.
This role sits within Key Venues, which manages Blacktown City’s aquatic and leisure centres. Every shift involves practical, hands-on teaching, monitoring swimmer safety, responding to customer enquiries and helping participants achieve important milestones. You work closely with other instructors and venue staff to deliver a high-quality program and a positive experience for every swimmer.
Your work makes a real difference. Strong swimming and water safety skills help reduce risks around pools, beaches and waterways. By teaching these essential skills, you help children and adults become more confident, capable and safe in the water.
You work flexible hours, including after school, weekends and school holidays, in a supportive team environment. Ongoing training and development help you build your teaching skills and industry knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to the community.
This role suits energetic people who enjoy working with children, families and the community. You are confident in the water, communicate well, enjoy active work and take pride in helping others learn a life skill that stays with them for years to come.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make outstanding teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a casual role with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $32.8468 per hour, plus 25% casual loading
- penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
- casual working hours
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
