About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, you'll be responsible for a range of accounting activities, including month-end processes, financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance. You'll also contribute to budgeting, audit preparation and financial analysis, working with managers across the organisation to help them understand and manage their budgets.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys a mix of routine accounting responsibilities and more complex financial work. You'll work closely with other members of the Finance team, provide guidance where needed and contribute to improving our financial systems and processes.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations, journals, accruals and month-end accounts
- Prepare financial reports, investigate variances and ensure the accuracy of financial information
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and audit preparation
- Support compliance with accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements, including BAS and ACNC obligations
- Work with operational managers to monitor expenditure, review financial results and support budget management
- Review bank reconciliations, supplier payments and other finance transactions
- Assist with financial system administration, improvements and implementation
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Finance team members
What you’ll bring
You'll be an experienced accountant with strong technical skills, sound judgement and a thorough approach to your work. You'll be able to manage competing priorities, resolve issues independently and work effectively with colleagues and managers across the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Experience in a senior accounting or finance role, including financial reporting, general ledger reconciliations and month-end processes
- Sound knowledge of accounting standards, financial controls and statutory reporting requirements
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and variance reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using and administering accounting software and financial systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and improve existing processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly
- Current (or ability to obtain) Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening, NT Driver’s Licence and influenza vaccination
CPA or CA qualifications (or working towards them) will be highly regarded,
along with experience in the not-for-profit, disability or community services sector. Familiarity with NDIS funding and financial reporting requirements would also be an advantage.
