About the work unit:

The Townsville Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS), part of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service, delivers specialist assessment, treatment, and harm reduction services to individuals, families, and communities affected by problematic substance use. Operating from both the North Ward and Vincent Health Campuses, ATODS provides a continuum of care including counselling, outpatient withdrawal support, opioid substitution therapy, and culturally safe programs.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

- Salary range: $158,344 to $165,320 p.a. (NG8)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading




- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About your opportunity:

As a key member of the Townsville Mental Health Service Group, the Nurse Practitioner within the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS) delivers advanced, person-centred nursing care to individuals, families, and groups affected by substance use. This includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, evidence-based interventions, and therapeutic support aimed at reducing harm across diverse populations and cultural backgrounds within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

The Nurse Practitioner plays a pivotal role in promoting best practice within a multidisciplinary team environment. This includes leading care coordination, supporting staff capability development, contributing to research initiatives, and facilitating education and clinical skill enhancement across the service.

All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.

Requirements:

- Mandatory: Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) and proof of registration (AHPRA).
- A Nurse Practitioner will be required to complete THHS credentialing:
- Upon commencement of their role, and
- Every 3 years.

- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
