What’s it like working at Saints Academy?
As a Casual Educator, you will help create meaningful experiences for children by providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment outside school hours. You will encourage children to explore their interests, develop friendships, build confidence, and have fun while supporting their wellbeing and ensuring their safety at all times.
What’s the focus of this position?
Saints Academy Educators work collaboratively with the Director (Nominated Supervisor), Educational Leader, Responsible Persons, and fellow Educators to deliver high-quality before school care, after school care, and vacation care programs. Educators support children's learning, wellbeing, development, and enjoyment through engaging experiences that align with the principles, practices, and learning outcomes of My Time, Our Place (Version 2.0). The role contributes to the achievement of the National Quality Standard (NQS) by fostering a safe, inclusive, child-focused, and Christ-centred environment.
The essentials you’ll need:
Committed Christian - actively involved in your Christian church.
A valid and current Working with Children Check
A valid and current National Child Safety training certificate (or completed prior to employment).
Understanding of child protection responsibilities and mandatory reporting obligations.
What you’ll be doing:
This role focuses on providing safe, high-quality,
Christian care and education that supports children's wellbeing, development, learning, and sense of belonging. Educators build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues while contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture.
Education, Care and Supervision
- Provide active supervision of children at all times.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all children attending the service.
- Build positive relationships with children and support their social and emotional development.
- Encourage children's participation, independence, and decision-making in core learning activities.
Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and supervision practices.
Program Delivery
- Assist with implementing engaging recreational, educational, and wellbeing activities.
- Support programs that reflect children's interests, strengths, and developmental needs.
- Promote inclusive practices that support children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Assist in setting up and packing away activities and equipment.
Professional Conduct, Compliance and Safety
Actively support Saints Academy and St Philip’s Christian College philosophy, policies and procedures and positively represent the organisation to external contacts at all opportunities.
Work in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS), Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, and Child Safe Standards.
Act in accordance with the principle of Paramountcy, ensuring the rights and best interests of the child are the paramount consideration in all decisions and actions.
Maintain professional boundaries with children, families, and colleagues at all times, including in digital and online spaces.
Report incidents, hazards, injuries, and concerns promptly.
Relationships and Communication
- Develop positive and professional relationships with children, families, school staff, and colleagues.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with all stakeholders.
- Support a collaborative and team-focused workplace culture.
Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and colleagues at all times.
Administration and Housekeeping
- Complete required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of program areas.
- Assist with food preparation and service where required.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings and professional development opportunities as requested.
Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
Work in a manner that does not pose a risk to self or others, including ensuring a safe and healthy setting for all children, families and staff.
All employees are responsible for ensuring the workplace is free from sexual harassment
Act immediately on any safety issues that relate to the working environment of the service.
Fulfil mandatory reporting obligations and comply with all Child Protection policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
Understand, implement and review emergency management procedures as required.
Use digital technology responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with service policies to protect children’s safety, dignity, and privacy.
Engage in practices that support personal wellbeing and contribute to a sustainable, respectful workplace culture.
Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities, commensurate with your skills, qualifications, training, and experience, as directed by the Director (Nominated Supervisor), Head of Saints Academy, Responsible Person, or Educational Leader.

Skills and Experiences:
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Certificate III, Diploma, or higher qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Previous experience working with school-aged children.
Knowledge of My Time, Our Place Framework.
Experience working within an OSHC or education setting.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
