Northern Rivers Fencing is looking for a practical, reliable Welder / Yardsperson to join our team in West Ballina.
This is a hands-on role working across our workshop and yard, supporting our fencing and gate installation teams. The majority of the welding work is MIG welding aluminium and steel, including fabrication of gates, fencing components and other items used across our projects.
The role isn't purely welding. You'll also help keep the yard organised, prepare materials for jobs, load and unload vehicles and assist with general workshop and yard duties.
What you'll do
- MIG weld and fabricate aluminium and steel
- Fabricate gates, frames and fencing components
- Cut, drill, grind and prepare materials
- Read measurements and basic fabrication drawings
- Prepare materials and orders for upcoming jobs
- Load and unload trucks, trailers and deliveries
- Maintain an organised workshop and yard
- Assist with stock and materials handling
- Carry out general workshop and yard duties as required
What we're looking for
You'll need to be practical, reliable and capable of working independently once given a job.
Essential:
- MIG welding experience with aluminium and/or steel
- Good fabrication and measuring skills
- Ability to use workshop tools safely
- Good attention to detail
- Reliable and willing to help with general yard duties
- Current driver's licence
Highly regarded but not essential:
- TIG welding experience
- Stick welding experience
- Forklift licence
- MR or higher truck licence
- Gate or fencing fabrication experience
- General fabrication or metalworking experience
You don't necessarily need to be a qualified boilermaker or fabricator. We're more interested in someone who can weld properly, works accurately and is happy to get involved in the wider workshop and yard operations.
