An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-profile digital transformation initiative supporting operational planning and execution within a leading resources organisation. Working as part of the MineDrive product team, you will play a pivotal role in building scalable, trusted data solutions that enable better operational visibility, smarter decision-making and improved business performance.
Your new role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will take ownership of trusted data products, pipelines and data models that underpin critical operational decision-making. Working within a multidisciplinary product team, you will design and build scalable, production-grade data solutions using Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow/Astronomer, Python and AWS.Your responsibilities will include developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines, defining data contracts and governance frameworks, managing lineage and data quality controls, and delivering trusted data products that support applications, optimisation engines and AI services. You will also contribute to engineering standards, platform improvements and operational excellence across the broader data ecosystem.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 5+ years of Data Engineering experience, including ownership of production-grade data platforms and solutions.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake, dbt, SQL, and Python.
- Experience working with Apache Airflow, Astronomer, or similar orchestration technologies.
- Deep understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT design, data contracts, lineage, and data quality frameworks.
- Proven experience building incremental, observable, replayable, and auditable data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of schema evolution, historisation, reconciliation, and governance practices.
- Experience working within modern software engineering environments utilising Git, CI/CD, automated testing, pull request reviews, and design governance.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
Highly regarded experience includes:
- AWS cloud services and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
- Supporting machine learning, optimisation, analytics, or AI-driven solutions.
- Exposure to mining, resources, industrial operations, or other asset-intensive environments.
