Lead complex Defence capability design initiatives supporting critical communications and ISR programs

This opportunity sits within a major Defence capability environment responsible for delivering and sustaining advanced command, control, communications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare capabilities. Working within a highly strategic program office, you will contribute to projects that support operational effectiveness, system integration and future capability development across a complex portfolio. You will collaborate with senior Defence stakeholders, technical specialists and multidisciplinary teams to help shape critical capability outcomes.
Your new role
As the Design Lead, you will provide technical leadership across complex capability projects, supporting capability architecture, systems engineering management and design assurance activities. Working closely with senior stakeholders and technical teams, you will help ensure capabilities are secure, interoperable and aligned with Defence priorities throughout the capability lifecycle.
- Supporting capability architecture and systems engineering activities across multiple projects
- Leading technical stakeholder engagement to inform capability design and development
- Preparing briefs, presentations and supporting documentation for senior governance forums
- Contributing to business cases, technical assessments and capability planning activities
- Providing technical leadership to systems engineering and project teams
- Overseeing risk reduction initiatives and supporting capability acceptance activities
- Supporting governance, compliance, audit and program assurance activities
What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced systems engineering professional with strong stakeholder engagement capabilities and a proven ability to operate within complex technical environments.Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering Management roles
- A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders across technical and operational environments
- Excellent knowledge of information systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications
- Desirable: Experience working within Defence ICT programs or technical force design environments
- Desirable: Experience with Defence Capability Lifecycle activities, governance frameworks, network security or project management
