We’re looking for an experienced Venue Manager to run a small, busy bakery café with a strong local following and discerning clientele.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll work alongside the team every day — running service, making coffee, looking after customers and keeping the venue operating to a high standard. This would suit someone from a fine-dining restaurant, premium café or high-end bakery who understands polished service while keeping the atmosphere warm and relaxed.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
Recruiting, hiring, onboarding and training the FOH team
Leading, supporting and developing the team day to day
Creating a positive culture and great environment for both staff and customers
Maintaining excellent customer service and coffee standards
Managing busy services and keeping the team organised
Building relationships with regular customers
Rostering and labour control
Stock, ordering and wastage
Cleanliness, presentation and food safety
Working closely with kitchen and production
Solving day-to-day problems quickly and practically
We have a transparent vision for the business. You’ll need to understand the owners’ standards, take feedback and direction well, and make sure these are carried through by the team when the owners aren’t there.
Attention to detail is essential. You should naturally notice the small things that affect the venue — presentation, cleanliness, customer experience, staff productivity and overall atmosphere — and act on them.
About you
You’ll need previous management experience in a quality café, bakery or restaurant, strong barista skills, excellent people skills and experience managing a team.
We want someone with personality, common sense and a can-do attitude who leads from the floor, supports their team and takes pride in creating a great place to work and visit.
This is not a desk-based management position. You need to enjoy being part of service and working alongside your team.
Salary: $75,000–$85,000 + super, depending on experience.
