About the role:

The Senior Policy Adviser supports implementation of the Victorian Medicines Formulary (Formulary) by leading and contributing to policy, governance, legislative reform and system improvement initiatives required to embed the reform across Victoria's public health system.

Working closely with Safer Care Victoria, Department of Health policy and legal teams, strategic partners and health service stakeholders, the role develops policy options, analyses legislative and regulatory frameworks, supports reform implementation and contributes to statewide medicines governance initiatives that strengthen consistency, safety and value in medicines use.

The role leads and contributes to a broad range of policy and reform activities within the Medicines Formulary program, including legislative reform projects, governance and accountability initiatives, implementation planning, stakeholder consultation, executive and ministerial briefings, and strategic policy development.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

- Lead and contribute to legislative, regulatory, policy and governance reform activities required to support implementation of the Formulary.
- Develop policy options, implementation approaches and recommendations informed by research, analysis, stakeholder consultation and government priorities.




- Contribute to the development and implementation of changes to relevant statewide governance, funding, performance and accountability mechanisms supporting formulary adoption.
- Lead and contribute to complex policy and reform projects supporting delivery of the Formulary.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with health services, clinicians, departmental stakeholders and strategic partners.
- Facilitate consultation and collaboration activities that support successful implementation of Victorian Medicines Formulary reform.

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

- A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, public administration, law, health, governance or a related discipline would be desirable.
- Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, policy implementation, governance reform or regulatory reform.
- Experience preparing policy papers, executive briefs, ministerial correspondence and strategic advice.
- Experience working across complex stakeholder environments.
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory reform processes would be desirable.
- Understanding of the Victorian health system, public sector governance or medicines policy would be highly regarded.
