Looking for your next step in team leadership, program coordination or animal welfare?

You might be exactly who we're looking for.

At Tasracing, we're searching for an organised, approachable leader who can bring people together and turn plans into action. Someone who enjoys supporting a team, building strong relationships and making sure programs run smoothly, with a genuine commitment to positive animal welfare outcomes.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who brings a positive, collaborative approach and helps their team succeed.

If you've led a small team and coordinated programs in animal welfare, community services, administration or a related field, this could be your opportunity to take the next step. Experience in racing or the horse or greyhound industry is welcome, but not essential.

About Us

At Tasracing, racing is our passion. Tasracing is Tasmania's Principal Racing Authority, entrusted with the comprehensive development and promotion of the state's racing industry. As the governing body, we oversee the ongoing growth of racing and breeding, market Tasmanian racing to local, national, and international audiences, fund race clubs, provide stakes and prize money, manage racing venues, and ensure the smooth operation of race day activities. Our work is driven by a commitment to growing and sustaining the racing industry, with a strong focus on animal welfare and integrity.

With over 150 years of history and a team of over 250 employees, we’re committed to building a united and vibrant industry Tasmania can be proud of.

The role is based at Ladbrokes Park Elwick in Glenorchy with occasion travel required. This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week.

In This Role You Will

- Lead and support the Animal Welfare team,

setting clear expectations, coordinating workloads and helping people develop their skills.

- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of OTT, GAP and other animal welfare programs, ensuring they remain effective and aligned with Tasracing’s objectives.

- Work with the Chief Veterinary & Animal Welfare Officer to develop and implement new welfare initiatives and industry programs.

- Build productive relationships with industry participants, veterinarians, regulators, welfare organisations, volunteers and community groups.

- Provide practical advice and guidance on animal welfare matters, handling sensitive or challenging situations professionally.

- Manage budgets and expenditure, procurement, invoicing and approvals across the animal welfare portfolio.

- Maintain accurate program records and prepare reports, statistics and recommendations that support informed decisions.

- Coordinate promotional activities, events and community engagement that support animal welfare objectives.

- Improve processes, monitor program outcomes and identify risks and opportunities for improvement.

- Support a positive, accountable team culture and ensure programs follow relevant legislation, policies and safety requirements.

You Will Succeed If You Are

- A supportive leader who gives clear direction and follows through

- Highly organised and comfortable managing competing priorities

- Professional, trustworthy and committed to animal welfare

- Practical and proactive when solving problems

- A confident communicator who builds positive relationships

- Attentive to detail, with sound judgement in sensitive situations

- Collaborative and willing to take ownership of improvements

What You Will Bring
