Cairns Bulk Meats is seeking a reliable and experienced Storeman / Stock Controller to take responsibility for incoming goods, stock organisation and inventory control across our busy retail and processing operation. The successful applicant will also be required to provide administration support and cover our administration position during periods of leave or absence. This is a wide-ranging, hands-on role suited to someone who takes ownership of their area, is comfortable working both on the floor and in an office environment, and can keep stock, paperwork and computer records organised and accurate.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and check all incoming deliveries
- Check quantities against delivery dockets and purchase orders
- Check product condition, temperatures, use-by dates and quality where applicable
- Identify shortages, damaged goods, incorrect deliveries and discrepancies
- Ensure stock is stored correctly in freezers, chillers and dry-store areas
- Maintain organised, clean and safe storage areas
- Carry out regular stock counts and assist with stocktakes
- Investigate and report stock discrepancies
- Monitor stock levels and advise management when stock is running low
- Ensure correct stock rotation using FIFO/FEFO principles
About you
- Experience in warehousing, stores, stock control or inventory management
- Experience receiving and checking deliveries
- Good computer skills and confidence learning different software systems
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Basic computer skills and good numerical ability
- Strong communication skills and a professional phone manner
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the stores function
- Confidence identifying and reporting stock or delivery problems
- Ability and willingness to move between stores/stock-control and administration duties when required
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments and safely handle cartons
