The opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineering Superintendent (Underground) to join our Underground Mining team at our Duketon Operation.

Reporting to the Underground Mining Alliance Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to the underground geotechnical function, ensuring safe, practical and value driven geotechnical solutions are delivered to support mining operations. You will lead a team of geotechnical professionals and play a critical role in managing ground control risks, influencing mine design and supporting the ongoing optimisation of our underground operations.

Working closely with mining, geology, technical services and operational stakeholders, you will be responsible for developing geotechnical strategies, maintaining compliance with the Ground Control Management Plan and ensuring geotechnical standards are aligned with industry best practice.

This is a FIFO role, working on an 8:6 roster (ex-Perth).

The main responsibilities of this role include:

- Leading and developing the Underground Geotechnical Engineering team to deliver safe and effective geotechnical outcomes
- Providing strategic geotechnical leadership and technical guidance across underground mining operations
- Ensuring compliance with the Ground Control Management Plan and relevant regulatory requirements
- Developing and implementing geotechnical standards, procedures and best practice ground support methodologies
- Leading geotechnical investigations, data collection programs and stability assessments to support operational and strategic decision making
- Overseeing geotechnical mapping, core logging, database management and quality assurance processes
- Providing geotechnical input into mine design, extraction sequencing, stoping strategies and backfill planning
- Managing ground support and backfill QA/QC programs and monitoring compliance across the operation
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives, innovation projects and cost optimisation opportunities within the geotechnical function
- Managing geotechnical budgets, forecasting and contractor performance
- Building solid relationships with operational teams, consultants and regulatory stakeholders
- Preparing and delivering technical reports, business cases and presentations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Mentoring and developing geotechnical engineers while supporting succession planning and capability development across the business

About you

To be successful for this role, you will have:

- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering,



Geology or a related discipline
- Postgraduate qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering
- Significant underground geotechnical experience gained within hard rock mining environments
- Demonstrated experience leading geotechnical teams and influencing operational outcomes at a senior level
- Strong technical expertise in underground ground control, rock mechanics and geotechnical risk management
- Experience with geotechnical modelling software and mine planning packages, preferably Deswik
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, stoping practices and backfill systems
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership capabilities
- Proven ability to mentor and develop technical teams while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Sound commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, projects and operational priorities
