About the Role
Bring your clinical expertise to the education of doctors starting their Australian careers.

The Mildura Clinical Academy Program (MiCAP) is a newly developed 12-week clinical training and orientation program. It supports International Medical Graduates (IMGs) as they move into supervised clinical practice within the Australian healthcare system. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for teaching to lead the hands-on skills component of the program.

You will report to the Director of Medical Education and work closely with the Medical Education Team. In this role you will:

- Facilitate procedural skills sessions, including cannulation, catheterisation, wound management and aseptic technique, and set up and support suturing sessions using task trainers

- Deliver communication skills sessions that prepare participants for practice in an Australian clinical setting

- Help develop, deliver and evaluate the MiCAP curriculum using adult learning principles and a blended learning approach

- Monitor participant progress and compliance with training requirements, keeping accurate records and reports

- Promote interprofessional education in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team

- Act as a mentor and role model for program participants

The role works out to about one day a week. It suits an experienced clinician who wants to move into education alongside their current practice,

or an educator who wants to help shape a new program in its early stages. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to hospital-wide education as required.

About You
You are a confident, experienced nurse who enjoys sharing your knowledge and helping others build their skills. You communicate well with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds. You adapt readily in a changing workplace and work as well independently as you do in a team.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife, without conditions

- Advanced clinical knowledge and a minimum of five years' nursing experience

- Demonstrated experience developing, facilitating and delivering clinically situated education programs, training and presentations

- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring and supporting the performance development of staff in a clinical setting

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in an acute care setting

- The ability to introduce new concepts through innovation, influence and negotiation

- Competence with Microsoft Office applications

- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to complete it within 12 months

Highly regarded:

- A postgraduate qualification in education or equivalent

- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical specialty
