Brunel is currently partnering with an established Oil & Gas operator to recruit an experienced Occupational Health & Safety Lead to join their Perth-based HSE team.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, this is a broad and influential position providing specialist support across occupational health, offshore medical services, injury management, emergency response and HSE assurance.

Description

The position will work closely with offshore Medics/HSE Advisors, operational leaders and external medical providers to ensure effective management of workforce health and safety risks across the organisation's Australian operations.

This would suit an experienced occupational health, medical or HSE professional who understands high-risk operational environments and can combine strong technical knowledge with practical operational advice.

- Provide functional HSE and occupational health support to offshore medics
- Coordinate medical support arrangements across offshore operations
- Support fitness-for-work, injury management, suitable duties and return-to-work processes
- Develop and maintain occupational health, medical, emergency response and HSE procedures
- Conduct and support incident, injury and occupational health investigations
- Assist with regulatory reporting and closeout of corrective actions
- Support HSE audits, inspections, assurance activities and verification of critical controls
- Maintain emergency response readiness, plans, rosters and training requirements
- Lead and coordinate emergency response exercises and improvement actions




- Participate in the Incident Management Team and provide medical and occupational health support during activations
- Support the management of psychosocial hazards
- Assist with occupational hygiene programs and workplace exposure management
- Coordinate radiation safety and NORM requirements with suitably qualified personnel
- Engage with operational management, external providers, regulators and other stakeholder

Profile

To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:

- Approximately 10+ years' experience within Oil & Gas, resources or another high-risk operational environment
- Strong occupational health and/or medical support experience
- Demonstrated experience in injury and illness management, fitness for work and return-to-work
- Experience working with site-based or offshore medics, medical practitioners and rehabilitation providers
- Strong emergency response and incident management capability
- Experience with HSE systems, audits, assurance and investigations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to provide practical advice to senior operational and HSE stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to travel offshore by fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter

Highly Regarded

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic
- Offshore Oil & Gas experience




- Understanding of NOPSEMA and the OPGGS Act
- Occupational health, OHS or injury-management qualifications
- Incident Management Team experience
- Occupational hygiene exposure
- Radiation Safety Officer or NORM experience
- Formal emergency management training
