We’re representing a well-established commercial and industrial refrigeration business looking to add qualified Refrigeration Technicians to its Brisbane team. With almost 60 years in the industry, an experienced team and a varied pipeline of work, this is a strong long-term opportunity for someone who wants good rates, technical support and room to develop.

There is room for a service technician, an installation technician, or a hybrid role covering both. Whether you prefer fault finding and breakdowns, enjoy delivering installation projects, or want a mix of the two, we’d be keen to hear from you. The role can be shaped around your strengths and the business’s workload.

What’s on offer

• Up to $60/hr, depending on experience and capability

• Company vehicle with private use, plus fuel card

• Phone and uniforms provided

• Permanent full time opportunity based in Brisbane

• Paid overtime and applicable on-call or away-work allowances

• Variety across commercial and industrial refrigeration

• Experienced managers and technical support when you need it

• Exposure to supermarket racks, cold rooms, refrigerated displays and larger refrigeration plants

• Opportunities to build your technical skills, support apprentices and take on more responsibility

The role

You’ll work across commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, with the focus depending on your experience and preferred direction:

• Service technician: servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, fault finding and repairs across commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

• Installation technician: commercial refrigeration installations and supermarket projects, including refrigerated displays, cold rooms and associated plant.

• Hybrid service/install role: a mix of service work and installation projects, with the balance agreed around your capability and the project pipeline.

You’ll take pride in safe, quality work, communicate well with customers and colleagues, and work alongside a team that shares its knowledge.

Experienced technicians will also have opportunities to support apprentices and help coordinate jobs.

On-call and travel

Service technicians participate in a planned on-call roster shared across the team. The standby allowance is around $350 per on-call week, with actual after-hours call-outs paid home-to-home at the applicable rates.

If away work appeals to you, regional and remote installation projects across Queensland and NSW offer a chance to boost your earnings. Away projects attract a $200-per-night living-away allowance plus applicable overtime, including time-and-a-half and double-time rates. It’s an opportunity to work on varied projects, see recent places and earn extra on top of your base rate.

The balance of Brisbane/SEQ and away work, trip lengths and time at home will be discussed upfront around the role, project requirements and individual circumstances. We’ll talk through your preferences across service, installation or a hybrid role.

About you

You’ll be a qualified Refrigeration Technician with relevant commercial experience and a practical, positive approach. We’re open to experienced technicians as well as recently qualified tradespeople with some commercial exposure, sound fundamentals and a willingness to learn.

What we’re looking for

• Refrigeration / Air Conditioning trade qualification and relevant current licences

• Commercial refrigeration experience in service, installation or both

• Good fault-finding and repair skills for a service-focused role, or solid installation skills for a project-focused role

• Current driver’s licence

• Good communication and customer service skills

• Pride in your workmanship and a reliable, cooperative approach

• Willingness to ask for support, keep learning and help other team members

Supermarket rack systems, industrial refrigeration, controls and CO2 experience would be valuable, but you don’t need experience with every system to be considered.

If you’re looking for a long-term refrigeration role with strong rates, a vehicle and the chance to focus on service, installation or a mix of both, apply now for a confidential discussion.
