Your opportunity

As Senior Legal Counsel at Tabcorp, you’ll advise on the commercial relationships, products and regulatory matters that shape our wagering business. Working closely with business teams, you’ll help negotiate agreements, navigate complex legal questions and develop practical solutions that balance commercial priorities, regulatory obligations and customer considerations.

Your role

Reporting to the General Counsel – Wagering, Media & Corporate, this 12-month contract offers a broad mix of commercial, operational and regulatory work. You’ll take ownership of matters from initial advice through to delivery, build trusted relationships across the business and see your advice put into practice. Day-to-day you will:

- Advise on wagering products, operations and customer matters, identifying legal issues and recommending practical solutions.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including partnerships and arrangements with sporting bodies and racing organisations.
- Interpret regulatory obligations and support the business on regulatory and government-facing matters.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to address legal risks in projects and day-to-day decisions.
- Coordinate external counsel and manage the delivery and cost of advice on your matters.

What you’ll bring

You’re a commercial lawyer who enjoys getting to know the business behind the legal question. You’re comfortable taking ownership of matters, explaining your advice clearly and working collaboratively to reach an outcome.

You’ll bring:

- Admission as an Australian legal practitioner.
- Relevant commercial legal experience gained in-house, in private practice or both.

- Solid contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Experience advising on regulatory or compliance matters, ideally in a regulated or consumer-facing business.
- Sound judgement, clear communication and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
- An interest in wagering and racing; experience in these or related regulated industries would be valued.

What’s in it for you

You’ll gain exposure to the commercial relationships and regulatory issues behind a major Australian wagering business. The breadth of the role offers opportunities to deepen your expertise, work directly with business stakeholders and see your advice put into practice.

Our benefits include:

- Ticketing to some of Australia’s biggest racing and sporting events.
- Wellbeing programs and access to our wellbeing app.
- Corporate discounts and offers from leading retailers.
- A diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone belongs.
