Square Catering is a family owned North Sydney-based corporate catering business providing fresh, affordable and reliable catering across Sydney. The business produces fresh food daily for meetings, workplace events and private functions, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch packages, hot meals, sandwiches, finger food, salads, desserts and dietary-specific products.

About the role

The Catering Production & Operations Supervisor leads the daily production and packing floor, ensuring every order is prepared accurately, safely, efficiently and ready for dispatch on time. This is a hands-on leadership role. The position works alongside the team while coordinating workflow, allocating labour, monitoring productivity and maintaining Square Catering's standards for food quality, presentation, portioning, dietary compliance and reliability. The role provides the operational link between production planning, kitchen preparation, packing and dispatch. It also supports the development of repeatable systems that allow the business to grow without losing quality or control.

Key responsibilities

- Translate daily orders into a practical production and packing plan

- Conduct a pre-production briefing covering workload, priorities, dietary requirements, staffing and delivery deadlines

- Allocate team members across preparation, assembly, packing, labelling and dispatch staging

- Monitor progress throughout the shift and adjust labour allocation as volume and priorities change

- Check that products meet approved recipes, portion sizes, presentation and packaging standards





- Verify quantities, product selections, client instructions and delivery documentation before dispatch

- Ensure dietary and allergen-specific items are correctly prepared, separated, labelled and packed

- Monitor labour use throughout the shift and reallocate resources where performance falls behind plan

- Set clear expectations for pace, accuracy, presentation, teamwork and workplace behaviour

- Provide practical direction, coaching and feedback throughout the shift

About you

- Experience in corporate catering, commercial kitchens, central production, food manufacturing or a comparable high-volume environment

- At least one year of experience leading or coordinating an operational team

- Demonstrated ability to allocate work and manage time-sensitive production deadlines

- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and temperature control

- Strong attention to detail across portioning, presentation, labelling and order accuracy

- Ability to monitor performance and address workflow issues in real time

- Clear communication and practical people-leadership skills

- Comfort using production sheets, order reports, checklists and basic performance data

- Availability for the Monday-Friday daytime roster and early production requirements

- Desirable: Food Safety Supervisor certification, or willingness to obtain it before commencement
