Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative – Family, Care and Early Years now has the following vacancy at our Mooroopna Office:

Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) Coordinator

Part - time, 0.8 EFT, 30.4 hours per week – Ongoing

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

About the Role

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is a free, two-year, home-based early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their child’s first teacher.

As HIPPY Coordinator at Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, you’ll oversee all aspects of local program implementation, day-to-day operations and management. After completing HIPPY Pre-service Training, you’ll train Home Tutors.

About You

You’ll bring:

- A Diploma in Early Childhood, Community Services or a similar discipline.

- Early childhood experience and a willingness to complete essential HIPPY training.

- Knowledge of and experience working with children and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families, and supporting adult learners.

- The ability to build local relationships and maintain networks, with experience leading and managing a small team.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation and computer skills, including Microsoft Word.

- Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills.

- The ability to work with the Program Manager to prepare the HIPPY budget, monitor expenditure and provide feedback.

Pre-employment Requirements

The successful applicant must complete mandatory pre-employment screening, including a National Police Check and Working with Children Check, and provide a current Victorian driver licence and Confirmation of Aboriginality.
