- Fixed Term to 30 June 2027, Full Time (1FTE)
- Salary classification UL1 – $113,444.73 - $119,578.63 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
- 5 weeks annual leave, plus an additional 2 days volunteer leave

About the Role
As a senior member of our Place team, you’ll turn complex place challenges into practical strategies and projects that improve the experience of Vincent town centres and emerging precincts. You’ll provide specialist advice across the organisation, build productive partnerships and mentor the Place team, including direct supervision of the Graduate Place Planner.
- Lead the development and delivery of Place Plans and other place-based strategies spanning economic development, transport, arts and culture, urban design and built form.
- Manage complex, high-profile projects from initiation to completion, including budgets, consultants, procurement, Council reporting, grants and external funding.
- Build strategic partnerships with government, businesses, investors, residents,
community groups and town teams, and deliver innovative community engagement.
- Identify opportunities and lead creative, evidence-based responses that improve public spaces, activation and the performance of our places.
- Support team operations, continuous improvement and quality outcomes while mentoring Place Planners and the Graduate Place Planner.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in urban design, urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, transport planning, place management or a related discipline.
- At least five years demonstrated experience in place management, urban design, planning, architecture or a related field; local government experience is highly regarded.
- A strong understanding of the economic, transport, planning and urban design challenges affecting inner-city places and town centres.
- Proven success delivering complex strategic projects, spatial planning documents and stakeholder or community engagement on high-profile issues.
- Highly developed communication, consultation and relationship-management skills, with the ability to write clear reports and strategies and present to diverse audiences.
- The ability to work independently, balance competing priorities and manage projects, budgets and deadlines effectively.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends when required to deliver town centre projects and initiatives.
