About the role
We are seeking a Payroll Officer - Virtual to join our team at Navigata365 on a part-time basis 3-4 days per week. This is an employee role which is flexible, remote position, allowing you to work from your preferred location in Australia whilst managing payroll operations for a diverse client portfolio. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting our clients' HR needs. This position offers the opportunity to develop your payroll expertise whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance through flexible working arrangements.
Key responsibilities
- Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll for a variety of clients across different industries
- Ensuring accurate calculation of employee wages, deductions, allowances, and superannuation contributions
- Maintaining compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements and Payday super regulations
- Preparing and lodging payroll tax returns and other statutory documentation
- Managing payroll reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Providing payroll-related support and advice to clients regarding leave entitlements, award compliance, and other payroll matters
- Updating and maintaining accurate payroll records and employee files
- Liaising with clients to obtain necessary payroll information and amendments
- Assisting with onboarding new payroll clients and setting up their payroll systems
- Supporting the broader accounting team as required
What we're looking for
- Qualification of Diploma in Payroll or higher with a minimum of 3 years experience in Public Practice
- A minimum of 3 years experience using Xero and are also a certified Xero Advisor
- Proven experience working in a payroll environment, in Australian payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax requirements, and superannuation regulations in Australia
- Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple client payroll schedules
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively in a virtual working environment
- Clear communication skills and a skilled approach to client interactions
- Familiarity with ATO reporting requirements and payroll compliance processes
- A proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
You will also need
- Permanent residency in Australia and must reside in Australia
- Willingness to complete a Police check and an online assessment
- A well set up Home office(computer, reliable internet and phone coverage)
- Experience working remotely
