SWS Lawyers is looking for an ambitious and motivated litigation lawyer with at least 2 to 5 years’ post admission experience to join our litigation and disputes team. You will work on a variety of dispute and litigation work servicing our excellent client base, including large corporate clients, government clients, public entities and up and coming startups.

SWS Litigation Team

The Litigation team at SWS is led by Nathan Avery-Williams, who has more than 17 years’ experience and has represented corporate and large commercial clients in a variety of disputes over many years. Our litigation lawyers receive excellent training, coaching and mentoring from Nathan, as well as from our other principals who are genuine specialist corporate and commercial lawyers.

This exciting role will see you work on wide variety of commercial litigation matters. Our ongoing work includes matters in the Supreme Court, Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal in relation to contract disputes, shareholder disputes, building and construction matters, estate litigation and proceedings seeking injunctive relief. We also regularly advise local businesses on potential disputes, both small and large, including those in the mining sector.

Our lawyers also have the opportunity to develop their advocacy skills appearing in lower courts on a regular weekly basis.

You will relish working in a quick-paced setting utilising your proven developed communication skills and will enjoy regular client contact.

We are looking for a lawyer with the ability to manage smaller matters with a high level of autonomy and to work with our principal on larger, more complex matters.

The successful candidate will have:

- minimum 2 years’ PQE;

- strong academic results;

- desire to develop and or learn advocacy skills;sound written and verbal communication skills;

- the ability to work with limited supervision on less complex matters;

- the ability to develop client focused relationships;

- the ability to use your initiative and work as part of a team;

- the ability to manage your workload; and

- an interest in progressing their career within the firm.
