About Davis Street Kindergarten: Davis Street Kindergarten is a community of learners, where children are encouraged to develop a strong self-image and love of learning. We have a rich history and tradition, and have been offering an early childhood service of the highest quality since 1958. The Kindergarten building has two classrooms: offering a sessional 3YO program, a sessional 4YO program, and a 4YO Pre-Prep program. All of our programs are influenced by the educational projects of Reggio Emilia.
Our kindergarten and programs are highly regarded within the Community; we have been assessed against the National Quality Framework and have received an overall rating of ‘Exceeding’ in 2025. Our programs reflect an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s ways of knowing and being.
Our programs are delivered by creative and experienced team members in welcoming classrooms with two stimulating outdoor gardens, providing one of the largest kindergarten outdoor environments in Boroondara. Role Description: We are seeking a Qualified Educator to join our 4-year-old Pre-Prep group (of up to 27 children) for 5 days per week (total 37.5 hours). This is a maternity leave replacement position commencing in Term 1, 2027, with casual work available prior to this. The contract is expected to be for a minimum of 12 months, with the possibility of ongoing employment in a part-time capacity following the completion of the contract.
Monday – 8.15am – 4.15pm
Tuesday – 8.15am – 4.15pm
Wednesday – 8.15am – 4.15pm
Thursday – 8.15am – 4.15pm
Friday – 8.15am – 4.15pm

Selection Criteria
1. Minimum Diploma in Children’s Services (ACECQA approved)
2. Hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Record Check, and current First Aid Certificate with CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.
3. Have a sound knowledge of the Education & Care Services National Law Act and Regulations, The National Quality Standards, Child Safe Standards and the Victoria Early Years Learning and Development Framework
4. Experience working in a kindergarten setting. Previous experience with Reggio Emilia inspired practise will be highly regarded.
5. Able to implement and support programs through observation, assessment and reflection.
6. Demonstrate a high level of initiative, an ability to prioritise your time and be well organised
7. Demonstrated willingness to learn and engage with the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach.
8. Sound oral and written communication skills
