CALLING FOR BOILERMAKERS AND MECHANICAL FITTERS FOR OCT/NOV SHUTDOWN (WEIPA)
Junction Engineering Group is seeking experienced Boilermakers and Mechanical Fitters for immediate onboarding for our upcoming shutdown in Weipa, QLD, Fly in date October 31/10/2026 and fly out November 10/11 /2026. Casual positions available, offering the prospect to contribute your skills and expertise to critical maintenance projects for our Mining, Resources & Energy client.
Ongoing shutdown opportunities throughout the year, providing continuous opportunities for work.
What you'll be doing
- Perform a variety of mechanical maintenance tasks during the shutdown, including equipment inspection, repair, overhaul and installation.
- Troubleshoot and collaborate with the wider team to develop and implement effective solutions
- Work safely and efficiently to high quality standards, ensuring all work is completed as per schedule
- Actively participate in prestart meetings, safety discussions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members as required

Flights departing: Brisbane and Cairns
Advantageous prerequisites: (if you do not have these you must be willing to obtain)
- Hold a current MMQ Medical or coal board medical clearance
- Certificate for Apply Risk Management Processes (G1)
- Current Rio Tinto Weipa Contractor Induction
- Working at Heights and Confined Spaces (within the last 2 years)
Must have:
- Commitment to safety and a demonstrated understanding of relevant industry regulations and standards
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality mechanical maintenance services in a shutdown or project-based setting
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels
- Willingness to work variable shift patterns, including weekends, and public holidays as required
