We are looking for a warm, reliable and experienced person to join a private household in Darling Point, primarily as a cook, five days per week.

This would suit someone who genuinely loves food and cooking and takes pride in preparing delicious, fresh, high-quality meals. You don’t necessarily need to be a formally trained chef — an excellent and enthusiastic home cook with strong experience would also be very welcome.

The role is approximately 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility around exact hours.

The role

The main focus will be:

● Planning meals in consultation with the household

● Cooking excellent, fresh lunches and dinners

● Shopping for groceries and sourcing valuable-quality ingredients

● Keeping the kitchen, pantry and refrigerator organised

● Preparing meals ahead where appropriate

● Occasionally helping with errands or light household tasks

There is already a cleaner three days per week, so this is not a cleaning position. The occasional household task may be required, but cooking, shopping and food preparation are very much the priority.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

● Is a genuinely good and confident cook





● Loves food and understands quality ingredients

● Can cook a broad range of dishes and cuisines

● Is organised, trustworthy and reliable

● Is happy to shop and manage the kitchen as well as cook

● Is comfortable working independently in a private home

● Has positive references

● Ideally has a driver’s licence and own car

Previous experience as a private cook, chef, caterer or in a similar household role would be highly regarded, but attitude, reliability and genuine cooking ability are more key than formal qualifications.

This is intended to be a long-term position and offers excellent, secure weekday hours with no evenings or weekends.
