About the role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to manage a portfolio of individual, business and investment clients, with a robust focus on Chinese-speaking clients. This is a client-facing role responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns and financial statements, providing practical tax advice, and acting as a trusted point of contact who can explain Australian tax obligations clearly in both Mandarin and English.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.
Prepare annual financial statements and workpapers in line with Australian accounting standards.
Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT and other ATO compliance obligations within required timeframes.
Advise clients on tax planning, business structuring, CGT,
Division 7A and residency-related tax matters.
Support clients with foreign income, overseas investments and Australian property-related tax considerations.
Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients, including responding to queries and reviews.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, communicating complex tax matters clearly in Mandarin and English.
Work closely with senior accountants and partners on advisory projects and support the development of junior team members.
Key Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
CPA or CA qualified, or currently working towards completion.
2+ years' experience in an Australian public practice tax or accounting role.
Sound knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and ATO compliance requirements.
Fluency in Mandarin and English, as the role involves working directly with Chinese-speaking clients.
Experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero, MYOB, HandiTax or Class.
Solid attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
A client-focused approach with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
