OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Head of Performing Arts provides College-wide leadership of an inclusive and vibrant Performing Arts program. The role seeks to "positively influence others to achieve a shared vision" for Performing Arts across all campuses (MACS, Vision for Leadership, ****).
It creates opportunities for students to learn, perform and contribute to College life, recognising and nurturing their unique gifts. Through music, drama and performance, the Head of Performing Arts strengthens student engagement, belonging and achievement.
The Head of Performing Arts sets the direction for instrumental, vocal and other co-curricular programs; leads and supports staff; and oversees performances and events, including a key leadership contribution to the College Production. The role works closely with the Learning Leader – Drama and Music, College Production Director (during Production cycle) and other leaders to provide coherent opportunities across the College.
The Head of Performing Arts reports to the Vice Principal – Staff, Strategy and Development and the Principal.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The responsibilities of the Head of Performing Arts include, but are not limited to:
providing strategic program leadership through a coherent, inclusive and high-quality Performing Arts direction across the College;
leading the delivery, quality and evaluation of instrumental, vocal and other co-curricular Performing Arts programs across campuses;
leading and developing Performing Arts staff across campuses, including consistent practice, supervision and child safety induction;
strengthening student participation and community engagement through Performing Arts opportunities, partnerships and events;
planning, delivering and evaluating a sustainable program of performances and events, with appropriate staffing, approvals and regard for staff and student workload and wellbeing;
managing Performing Arts budgets, facilities, equipment and resources responsibly and using evidence for continuous improvement; and
undertaking other day-to-day duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
Teachers are supported by the Department Heads, Learning Leaders, the Assistant Heads of Campus (Learning and Pedagogy), Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus), and the Vice Principal (Learning and Teaching) across the College in the development, implementation, and teaching of the curriculum.
They are also supported by the House Coordinators, Assistant Heads of Campus (Student Wellbeing and Growth), the Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus) and the Vice Principal – Students, in the pastoral care and discipline of students, as well as the smooth and effective management of classes.
SALARY REMUNERATION: According to the CEMEA ****, $79,****** - $118,****** per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
A Position of Leadership 4 is $13,****** per annum.
