SESA Safety & Environmental Services Australia – Moorebank NSWSESA – Safety & Environmental Services Australia is looking for an experienced microbiology analyst to join our small friendly team at SESALAB (NATA Accredited) providing analytical services for mould and bacteria (environmental microbiology samples) as well as asbestos analysis of bulk samples and soil.To complement the lab work, you will enjoy doing field work including inspection of various sites, sampling of bulk materials, surfaces, air and water for microbiological contaminants and hazardous materials and gain skills in occupational hygiene consulting services.To be considered for this role you will ideally have:A relevant tertiary qualification in microbiology, environmental microbiology, aerobiology, environmental science or a related fieldExperience in analysing microbiology samples, preparation of cultures (mould, yeast, bacteria), plating, slides mounting, optical microscopy and identificationExperience in analysis of Legionella, E. Coli, Coliforms and other bacteria in environmental samplesExperience in writing and maintaining laboratory standard operating proceduresCalibration and maintenance of laboratory equipmentUnderstanding of ISO ***** standard and contribute to ongoing improvements of laboratory procedures and the laboratory quality manualProcessing of laboratory data,
records and preparation of analytical reportsAbility to undertake field sampling, building inspections and prepare detailed assessment reportsLaboratory supervisor experience is an advantageBusiness development experience will be highly regardedThe right candidate will be offered the prospect to develop a career into occupational hygiene consulting and being mentored by a principal occupational hygienistA full driver's licence.To be successful in the role you will:Have more than 3 years experience in similar roleHave excellent oral and written communication skills and strong customer service skillsBe career orientedHave outstanding scientific report writing skillsBe able to work independently and as part of a team and with minimal supervisionBe proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPointBe flexible to work outside normal business hours and travel on jobs if requiredHave excellent organisational skills, job management and project management skills and attention to detailsHave valuable knowledge of current health and safety legislation and awareness.A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the right candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.The right candidate may also be offered the opportunity to progress into other areas of the business.
