Permanent Sleepover Line | 54.5 Hours per Fortnight | Wangaratta Residential HomeWe're seeking an experienced Residential Care Youth Worker to join our specialist trauma-informed team at our Morgan Road Residential Home in Wangaratta.This is a permanent sleepover position supporting young people with complex behaviours and significant trauma histories within one of our highest-support residential environments.If you're looking for the stability of a permanent roster, enjoy working overnight, and thrive in structured therapeutic environments, this is an opportunity to join a dedicated team making a genuine difference in the lives of young people.Junction Support Services provides DFFH-funded Residential Care for young people who are unable to live safely with their families.
Our residential homes provide safe, stable environments where young people are supported through trauma-informed care, consistency and meaningful relationships.This role is best suited to experienced Residential Care Youth Workers who are confident working with complex behaviours and high therapeutic needs.What Does a Sleepover Shift Look Like?
Our Sleepover Line offers a combination of active work and sleepover hours, providing the opportunity to make a difference while benefiting from excellent pay and penalties.Typical Sleepover Shift Structure5:00pm – 11:00pm: Active support shift (awake and working)11:00pm – 7:00am: Sleepover period7:00am – 9:00am: Active support shift (awake and working)During your active hours, you'll support young people with evening and morning routines, meal preparation, household tasks, medication administration, therapeutic support, and creating a safe, stable home setting.
During the sleepover period, you'll remain on-site and receive a sleepover allowance, with additional payments if support is required overnight.Roster & Hours54.5 hours per fortnight7 sleepover shifts per fortnightA mix of weekdays and weekendsAccess to generous weekend penalty rates, night shift loading, and sleepover allowancesWhy Join the Sleepover Line?

Join a dedicated team providing overnight support, stability and care to young people when they need it mostThe EnvironmentOur Morgan Road home supports young people who require intensive therapeutic support due to complex trauma and behavioural needs.Working in this home requires:Delivering consistent, trauma-informed supportFollowing Behaviour Support Plans and therapeutic frameworksConfidence managing behaviours including verbal aggression, emotional dysregulation and escalationStrong situational awareness and proactive risk managementRemaining calm, regulated and professional during challenging situationsWorking collaboratively within a structured therapeutic teamYour RoleAs a Sleepover Residential Care Youth Worker, you'll help provide stability, safety and therapeutic care during the evening, overnight and morning routines.Your responsibilities will include:Delivering trauma-informed, child-centred careSupporting evening and morning routinesPreparing meals and maintaining a welcoming home environmentAdministering and documenting medicationResponding using Behaviour Support Plans and therapeutic strategiesSupporting meaningful activities that promote regulation and independenceCompleting case notes, incident reports and documentation to DFFH standardsWorking collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent therapeutic careYou'll Thrive in This Role If YouRemain calm and emotionally regulated under pressureMaintain clear, professional boundariesRespond intentionally rather than react emotionallyUnderstand trauma and the behaviours that can result from itAre reliable,
structured and accountableValue consistency and teamworkThis Role May Not Suit You If YouPrefer lower-demand care environmentsFind confrontation or conflict difficultTake behaviours personallyAre still developing confidence managing complex behavioursPrefer working independently rather than as part of a therapeutic teamRecruitment ProcessOur recruitment process is structured to ensure the right fit for both you and our team.Successful applicants will complete:Group interview (12pm, Monday 12th October)Individual interviewMandatory compliance checksTwo-day induction (27th & 28th October)Five supported shadow shifts before working independentlyEssential RequirementsCertificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or equivalent approved qualification)Experience working with young peopleResidential Out-of-Home Care experience is highly desirableCurrent Australian Driver LicenceVictorian Employee Working with Children CheckCurrent First Aid CertificateWillingness to complete a National Police Check (arranged by Junction)Commitment to ongoing trauma-informed learning and professional developmentIf you have lived outside Australia for 12 months or more during the last 10 years, you'll also need to provide a current International Police Check for each relevant country.Applicants must complete the mandatory DFFH upskilling units within six months of commencement.
