SGS is seeking a dedicated Graduate Chemist to join our Natural Recourses – Geochem team primarily based in Perth.
This role offers the prospect to participate in a structured training program (Perth based, regional and FIFO locations) within the Natural Resources - Geochemistry division. The program includes a complete rotation across the Geochemistry division including sample prep, fire assay, weigh room, acid digest, XRF analysis and ICP analysis and a placement at a mine site.
Responsibilities include, however are not limited to:
Perform analyses in accordance with established procedures to ensure analytical integrity and quality.
Actively participate in a structured program to develop relevant skills and knowledge.
Operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation safely according to authorized work instructions.
Comply with,
and assist in maintaining, the laboratory’s Quality Management System.
On occasions, may be required to relocate or provide temporary cover to other sites.
Work to improve operating efficiency of equipment and instrumentation and analytical quality data.
Ensure samples submitted to section are analyzed promptly, accurately, and precisely.
Develop skills to achieve unsupervised operator status (working automatously) on equipment including troubleshooting skills and keeping equipment and section in valuable state of repair.
Perform all functions in correct numerical order, adhering to QC requirements and avoiding potential contamination.
