Westgate Aged Care Facility is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Lifestyle Assistant to join our team in Newport VIC ****.
This is a part-time position that plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
As a Lifestyle Assistant, you will be responsible for organising and facilitating recreational activities, social programmes and leisure opportunities that promote wellbeing, engagement and happiness amongst our aged care residents.
This role is essential to our commitment to providing holistic, person-centred care that values the dignity and autonomy of every individual in our care.Key responsibilitiesPlan, organise and facilitate recreational activities and social programmes tailored to residents' interests and abilitiesDevelop and maintain activity schedules that promote engagement, mental stimulation and physical wellbeingBuild meaningful relationships with residents and encourage their participation in activities and social interactionsAssess residents' individual preferences, mobility levels and cognitive abilities to ensure activities are appropriate and accessibleLiaise with care staff, families and external service providers to coordinate events and outingsMaintain detailed records of residents' participation and feedback to inform future programmingCreate a welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates residents' achievements and promotes community spiritSupport residents with mobility assistance during activities where requiredAssist with the setup and tidying of activity spaces and materialsContribute to maintaining a safe and respectful setting for all residentsWhat we're looking forCertificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, or a relevant qualification/experience in aged care, community services or lifestyle activitiesDemonstrated experience in aged care, community services, lifestyle programs or a related field is highly desirableA genuine passion for supporting and engaging with older peopleStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive and physical abilitiesPatience, empathy and a person-centred approach to care and supportExcellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple activities and prioritiesCreativity and enthusiasm for developing and facilitating meaningful and engaging activities for diverse groups of residentsAbility to encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences, abilities, cultural backgrounds and choicesAbility to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary teamReliable, punctual and professional approach to workAbility to assist residents safely with mobility and participation in activities, within the scope of the roleCurrent First Aid and CPR certificates are highly desirableCurrent Police Check and any other screening/clearances required for employment in residential aged care,
