Job Description
This is an exciting prospect for an experienced Sous Chef to join a high-performing Melbourne kitchen. Working closely with the Head Chef and senior culinary team, you will take an active leadership role across daily operations, ensuring consistently high standards while supporting the development and performance of the brigade.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the kitchen team through preparation and high-volume service periods
Maintain exceptional standards across food quality, presentation and consistency
Train, mentor and develop junior chefs while fostering a positive kitchen culture
Support ordering, stock control, food safety, labour management and cost control
Work closely with the Head Chef to drive operational and culinary standards
Candidate Profile
You will be an experienced Sous Chef, or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step, with a background in premium,
quality-focused restaurants. You will be a confident leader who thrives in a rapid-paced kitchen and takes pride in developing people and delivering consistently excellent food.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Experience in a Sous Chef or senior kitchen position within premium restaurants
Strong technical skills and a sound understanding of quality produce
Experience leading teams in fast-paced, high-volume service environments
Robust organisational, communication and people management skills
A professional and collaborative approach with a genuine ambition to progress
